Oh To Sing A New Song!

Checking my to-do list again and wondering if everything will get done in time for our Thanksgiving dininer guests tomorrow.
Running to the store to get one more ingredient.
Checking my list again!
At times, I feel a bit overwhelmed and maybe a teeny bit panicky.
I've even stomped about and grumbled under my breath a few times.
Sometimes feeling a little overworked and underpaid!
As I was running my last few errands, I was reminded of those less fortunate than myself.
Here I am, perfectly healthy, a cart full of groceries, all of my children home for the holiday, a husband with a job, a warm home and an enormous amount of material blessings and I only seem worried about whether the house is clean and I have everything on my to-do list done!
That's it!
It's time I start singing a new song!
So, I think about what I've been given. It is Thanksgiving, after all!
And when I think of what I've been given, I don't think so much about the material things or the warm home or all these earthly gifts, tho, I am so very thankful for these!
Tears come to my eyes when I think of how selfish I can be when I realize that I would still have Everything even if I had nothing of this earth to my name!
God has given me everything in Jesus!
I am thankful for all this food, for our family, health, home, friends, a car to drive, clothes to wash, rugs to clean, walls to scrub, my baby's dirty face and paint on her clothes, a country to live in that still honors thanking our Lord, the freedom to be all that God created us to be but most of all I am thankful for the grace that has been freely given to me.
It's been freely given to all and I pray everyone will come to know of God's most precious gift!

"O sing unto the Lord a new song"-Psalm 98:1
"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations."-Psalm 100

May you all have a beautiful, blessed Thanksgiving Day!

George Washington's Prayer for Our Country

Almighty God: We make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection: that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States at large.
And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation.
Grant our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
~George Washington

May God continue to bless America on this election day!
